When it comes to celebrity vacations, we love a good bit of location-spotting as much as anyone. Where are the A-listers jetting off to between filming, red carpets, and whirlwind tours? You might picture them sipping Champagne in the French Riviera or hitting the slopes in Aspen, and you wouldn’t be wrong. But in our experience, there’s one destination that outshines them all (and yes, it happens to be right in our backyard).
Here’s our reverse countdown of the 10 most star-studded vacation destinations, ending with our personal favorite.
10. Lake Como, Italy
Back in the 1960s, the Amalfi Coast was the place for Hollywood royalty. Think Sophia Loren, Jackie Kennedy, and Elizabeth Taylor. These days, though, its winding roads and cliffside villages have been discovered by the masses, and the A-listers have moved on to somewhere quieter and far more exclusive: Lake Como. Nestled in northern Italy between a spine of high peaks, Como’s sapphire waters and dramatic backdrop create a natural privacy screen that attracts stars who value discretion as much as beauty. George and Amal Clooney famously own a villa here, Villa Oleandra in Laglio, sharing the lake with the likes of Sting, Madonna, and Richard Branson. For us at The Point, Como is one of those places that reminds us why privacy and luxury go hand in hand.
The Point crew’s take: Lake Como is pure European glamour, but Italy in summer? Too many tourists, too many carbs, too many churches, NEXT!

9. Dubai, UAE
Dubai is where celebrities go when they want excess without apology. It’s a city that thrives on superlatives — tallest building, biggest mall, most extravagant hotel. The Beckhams have holidayed here, Will Smith calls it his “second home,” and plenty of A-listers drop in between film shoots for shopping, desert safaris, and private yacht cruises off the Palm Jumeirah. With luxury so over-the-top it almost feels fictional, it’s a place where nothing is too flashy.
Our Take: Impressive skyline, sure — but swapping sandals for stilettos isn’t our idea of a vacation. Pass us the flip-flops and a Costa Rica sunset instead.

8. The Hamptons, New York
For the East Coast elite, the Hamptons are less of a “vacation” and more of a summer tradition. Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jerry Seinfeld are among the many with homes here, enjoying garden parties, lobster rolls, and polo matches.
Our thoughts: It’s chic, it’s close to New York City, and it’s where stars can see and be seen without stepping too far from home. Still, nothing too unique to add to the celebrity vacation repertoire.

7. Aspen, Colorado
When Hollywood heads for snow, Aspen is where they all seem to head to. Mariah Carey, the Kardashians, and Leonardo DiCaprio have all been spotted on its slopes. With its ski-in, ski-out chalets, private après-ski parties, and luxury boutiques, Aspen has been a playground for the rich and famous for decades.
Our thoughts: Gorgeous mountain town, yes, but snow? No thanks. We’ll stick to warm sand and cold cocktails.

6. Maldives
A-listers craving privacy can’t resist the Maldives. From Chrissy Teigen and John Legend to David and Victoria Beckham, the overwater villas here offer the ultimate “no paparazzi” escape. Days revolve around diving, spa treatments, and private chef dinners under the stars. What’s not to love?
Our thoughts: Overwater villas are dreamy… until you remember you have to hop on three planes and a boat to get there. We’ll take our beach a bit closer, thanks.

5. Saint-Tropez, France
If the Hamptons are the East Coast summer playground, consider Saint-Tropez the equivalent in Europe. Once a humble fishing village, Saint-Tropez became the Mediterranean’s most glamorous playground after Brigitte Bardot put it on the map in the 1950s. Today it’s all about Champagne on yachts, designer shopping along the harbor, and long lunches that stretch into sunset. Leonardo DiCaprio, Bella Hadid, and Rihanna have been spotted dancing on yachts or lounging at Club 55.
Our thoughts: Champagne on tap and yachts for days — but also wall-to-wall people in July. We’ll toast from somewhere less… elbowy.

4. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Only a short flight from LA, Cabo is practically Hollywood’s celebrity vacation backyard. Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney, and Justin Timberlake have all been regular visitors for years. Between luxury villas and pristine beaches, it’s an easy, sun-soaked escape.
Our thoughts: Fun, flashy, and full of big nights out — but we like our luxury with a little more breathing room (and fewer tequila regrets).

3. St. Barts
Tiny but mighty, St. Barts is the Caribbean’s most elite playground. Every New Year’s Eve, it fills with yachts, private jets, and some of the world’s most recognizable faces — Beyoncé, Drake, and Jeff Bezos among them. There’s sunbathing on Gouverneur Beach by day and dancing barefoot at Nikki Beach by night.
Our Take: Stunning, yes. But it’s the kind of place you go to be seen, not to truly unwind.

2. Mykonos, Greece
Mykonos is Greece’s party island, famous for its whitewashed houses, turquoise waters, and the celebrity-studded Nammos Beach Club. From the Hemsworth brothers to Kendall Jenner, the guest list reads like the front row of a fashion show. Days are for sailing and water sports, nights for flowing Champagne on the dance floor.
Our Take: While we love the Greek charm, those late nights cut into our sunrise surf plans!

1. Costa Rica — and The Point Luxury Villa, Tamarindo
Now, we might be biased, but even with all those famous names and faraway destinations, Costa Rica is where we’d choose every single time. Over the years, a host of celebrities have been spotted here, like Kim Kardashian soaking up the rays on the Papagayo Peninsula, Mark Zuckerberg living it up on Playa Hermosa (where he owns a beachside luxury villa), Shawn Mendes enjoying some private family time in Nosara and Gisele Bündchen, who’s been surfing our waves for years, spending lots of time in her holiday home in Santa Teresa this year, too. It’s not hard to see why so many celebrities have fallen for Costa Rica’s wild beauty, friendly locals, and pura vida lifestyle.
Tamarindo, in particular, blends laid-back surf culture with discreet luxury, and we think it’s the perfect balance for stars looking to unwind without losing the good life. This is the Costa Rica luxury holiday we’d plan for anyone who loves privacy wrapped in tropical beauty.
We live and breathe the kind of Costa Rica luxury holiday that’s about more than just the villa — it’s the food, the adventures, and the feeling you never want to leave.
At The Point Luxury Villa, we’ve hosted guests who want more than just a pretty view. They want privacy, a prime beachfront spot, and the freedom to choose between adventure and total relaxation. From helicopter arrivals to in-villa private chef dinners and sunset cruises, we’ve seen firsthand why Costa Rica keeps celebrities coming back.
